Abstract
60 years ago, the Institute of Far Eastern Studies of the USSR Academy of Sciences was established by a resolution of the Presidium of the USSR Academy of Sciences dated September 23–30, 1966. Following the collapse of the USSR in 1991, it became part of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In July 2022, the Institute of Far Eastern Studies was renamed the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences. This article examines the Institute’s key development milestones, its structural changes resulting from shifts in research focus, and presents some aspects of its publishing activities, including the journals of the ICCA RAS. The author also highlights the important role of the Institute in addressing state objectives aimed at advancing the national interests of the Russian Federation.
